Hernia Repair

A hernia can occur when inner layers of abdominal muscle are weak causing the lining of the abdomen to bulge out into a small sac. Part of the intestine or abdominal tissue may enter the sac. Hernias occur most often in the groin (inguinal hernia), the navel (umbilical hernia), and at the incision site of a previous surgery.

Cholecystectomy

The surgical removal of the gallbladder to treat symptomatic gallstones. This procedure is most often performed utilizing minimimally invasive methods and may be performed in conjunction with bariatric surgery.

Hiatal Hernia Repair

A hiatal hernia occurs when the lower part of the esophagus and a portion of the stomach slide up through an opening in the diaphragm.

Releasing of Adhesions

Scar tissue and adhesions are areas of thick connective tissue that the body develops as part of the healing process after surgery or trauma. If excessive scar tissue or adhesions develop, pain or dysfunction may follow. Surgical intervention may be required.

Upper GI Endoscopy

This is a procedure that allows your doctor to look at the interior lining of your esophagus,  stomach, and the first part of your small intestine through a thin, flexible viewing instrument called an endoscope. The tip of the endoscope is inserted through your mouth and then gently moved down your throat into the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This procedure may be used to look for ulcers, inflammation, infection, bleeding or strictures.

Since the entire upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract can be examined during this test, the procedure is sometimes called esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD).

Appendectomy

The appendix (a small, finger-shaped organ that comes out from the first part of the large intestine) is removed when it becomes swollen or infected.

Mass Excision

This procedure involves the removal of a single mass or multiple masses.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is an internal examination of the entire length of the large intestine and rectum, using an instrument called a colonoscope.

EGD/ Esophagogastroduodenoscopy/Upper GI Endoscopy

An EGD is an examination of the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and upper duodenum. A small camera (flexible endoscope) is used for this procedure.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a procedure that uses an instrument called an endoscope to look inside your body. Endoscopes are thin tubes with a tiny camera attached. It is moved through a body passageway or opening to see inside an organ or for surgery. There are many different types of endoscopes.

Infusaport Placement or Removal

For long-term venous access an Infusaport® may be utilized. It is implanted under the skin of the chest to allow for ease of medication injections, blood transfusions, or blood samples.

Laparotomy

A laparotomy is abdominal surgery utilizing a large incision through the abdominal wall to diagnose or treat a condition.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a procedure performed in the abdomen or pelvis through small incisions with the aid of a camera. It is used to diagnose a condition or to perform surgery.

Doctor Search

Everyone needing specialty surgery knows how important it is to select the right surgeon. Not only is surgical skill critical, but having a surgeon and surgical team with a great deal of experience because they do large numbers of the surgery you need is also essential to obtaining the best outcome. There is an old saying that goes, ”If you are having surgery it is a minor case, but if I am having surgery it is a major case.” At FHMC we understand that every case should be treated as a major case. You deserve not only the best surgeon, but also a surgeon you have had a chance to spend the time needed to have all of your questions answered so you are comfortable and confident about your decision.

The physician owners of FHMC have control over the selection and recruitment of the staff who will be members of their surgical team. While it is true that the surgeon is the team leader, every great surgeon knows that they need a great support team to deliver the best surgical outcomes and the best care. Our nurses, therapists, medical assistants, and technicians have joined the FHMC family because they want to work with each specialist and be an important part of delivering outstanding service to you as their patient. These staff members are selected not only for their skill and commitment to their specialty but also because of their desire to provide you the personal care you need and desire. As a specialty hospital, each staff member has a specialty they are trained to care for and therefore this staff has a higher level of skill to care for you than would be typically available in a general hospital or even a university hospital because their staff is required to support many different programs. In addition, to a higher skill level, our hospitals have higher nurse to patient ratios which means they have more time to care for you. The majority of your care is provided by a nurse instead of lower skilled aid. With the best staffing programs our patients can immediately see and feel the difference in their care.

Welcome to Forest Health Medical Center

Welcome! We invite you to experience the Forest Health Medical Center difference!

FHMC is different from either a general medical hospital or a large university medical center. We provide you with specialty surgery and personal care by the best specialty surgeons and staff.

Just like the major medical centers we have the latest modern equipment and facilities, but that is not what makes us different. The personal care you will receive is unlike the typical impersonal healthcare offered in most large university medical centers. At FHMC we are committed to caring for you as our family.

Forest Health Medical Center is part of a national healthcare organization that has been providing specialty healthcare for the last 20 years. Over that time, FHMC has compiled an unequaled record of the best surgical outcomes, personal care, and service in the United States. Our specialist physicians are also individual owners of the hospital. As owners, every doctor delivers this quality because they are in control of every aspect of the hospital: the services we offer, the recruitment of the best staff, the purchase of all equipment, and every key operational management decision, including the selection of the hospital president. Our physicians serve on every key management committee all the way to the Board of Managers.

Forest Health Medical Center is a unique hospital providing healthcare the way it should be provided, personal healthcare. Contact us to experience the type of healthcare experience you deserve.
