Hysteroscopic polypectomy is the removal of polyps utilizing hysteroscopy. A hysteroscope is a thin, lighted flexible tube inserted through the vagina into the uterus. It allows for easy visual access to the interior of the cervix and uterus.

Diagnostic laparoscopy

Diagnostic laparoscopy is a procedure that allows a health care provider to look directly at the contents of a patient's abdomen or pelvis, including the fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, small bowel, large bowel, appendix, liver, and gallbladder.

Endometrial ablation

Endometrial ablation is the removal or destruction of the endometrium (lining of the uterus).  Endometrial ablation is an alternative to hysterectomy for women with heavy menstrual bleeding. It results in little or no menstrual bleeding.

Salpingectomy

Salpingectomy is the removal of the fallopian tube(s) due to etopic pregnancy, infection or cancer. This procedure may be performed as minimally invasive surgery.

Tubal ligation

Tubal ligation is a surgical procedure for sterilization in which a woman's fallopian tubes are blocked to prevent eggs from reaching the uterus for fertilization. Tubal ligation is considered a permanent method of sterilization and birth control.

Bartholin gland-excision or marsupilization

A cyst is formed when the Bartholin's gland (located slightly below and to the left of the vagina opening) is blocked. If infection sets in, an abscess forms. Bartholin’s cysts are most likely to occur in women of child-bearing age. The cyst or abscess may need to be removed or opened to allow free draining.

Breast Aspiration

Breast aspiration is the removal of fluid from a breast cyst to alleviate pain caused by the pressure of the fluid, visualize an abnormal area of tissue that the fluid is obscuring or confirm that a lesion is a cyst.

Cervix Cauterization or Conization

Cervical conization is a diagnostic or treatment method to remove tissue from the cervix usually due to the presence of precancerous cells.  Cervical cauterization uses heat, electricity, cold or laser to destroy abnormal cells from the cervix.

Clitoridectomy

Clitoridectomy is the surgical removal of the clitoris.

Exploratory Laparotomy

An exploratory laparotomy is a diagnostic procedure utilizing an incision through the abdominal wall to gain access into the abdominal cavity.

Vulvar biopsy

During a vulvar biopsy, a tiny piece of tissue from the outside of the vagina is sampled to obtain more information about a growth, discoloration, or rash.

Hymenotomy

A hymenotomy is a minor medical procedure to open the hymen. It is done to treat imperforate hymen or other situations where the hymen is unusually thick or rigid in order to allow normal menstruation or sexual intercourse.

Oophorectomy is the surgical removal of the ovaries (female organs that store and release eggs for fertilzation and produce female sex hormones).

Ovarian cyst excision

The removal of a cyst (a sac filled with fluid or semisolid material) that has formed on or within one of the ovaries.

Hysteroscopy

A hysteroscopy is a way for your doctor to look at the lining of your uterus. A thin viewing tool called a hysteroscope enters the uterus through the vagina and cervix. It has a light and camera so that the lining of the uterus is visible on a screen. Hysteroscopy can be used to diagnose or as part of an operation.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a surgery that uses a thin, lighted tube inserted through a small incision to look at abdominal organs and female reproductive organs. It is used to diagnose and treat cysts, adhesions, fibriods, infections, and other conditions. Samples can be take for biopsy through the laparoscope.

Doctor Search

Everyone needing specialty surgery knows how important it is to select the right surgeon. Not only is surgical skill critical, but having a surgeon and surgical team with a great deal of experience because they do large numbers of the surgery you need is also essential to obtaining the best outcome. There is an old saying that goes, ”If you are having surgery it is a minor case, but if I am having surgery it is a major case.” At FHMC we understand that every case should be treated as a major case. You deserve not only the best surgeon, but also a surgeon you have had a chance to spend the time needed to have all of your questions answered so you are comfortable and confident about your decision.

The physician owners of FHMC have control over the selection and recruitment of the staff who will be members of their surgical team. While it is true that the surgeon is the team leader, every great surgeon knows that they need a great support team to deliver the best surgical outcomes and the best care. Our nurses, therapists, medical assistants, and technicians have joined the FHMC family because they want to work with each specialist and be an important part of delivering outstanding service to you as their patient. These staff members are selected not only for their skill and commitment to their specialty but also because of their desire to provide you the personal care you need and desire. As a specialty hospital, each staff member has a specialty they are trained to care for and therefore this staff has a higher level of skill to care for you than would be typically available in a general hospital or even a university hospital because their staff is required to support many different programs. In addition, to a higher skill level, our hospitals have higher nurse to patient ratios which means they have more time to care for you. The majority of your care is provided by a nurse instead of lower skilled aid. With the best staffing programs our patients can immediately see and feel the difference in their care.

Welcome to Forest Health Medical Center

Welcome! We invite you to experience the Forest Health Medical Center difference!

FHMC is different from either a general medical hospital or a large university medical center. We provide you with specialty surgery and personal care by the best specialty surgeons and staff.

Just like the major medical centers we have the latest modern equipment and facilities, but that is not what makes us different. The personal care you will receive is unlike the typical impersonal healthcare offered in most large university medical centers. At FHMC we are committed to caring for you as our family.

Forest Health Medical Center is part of a national healthcare organization that has been providing specialty healthcare for the last 20 years. Over that time, FHMC has compiled an unequaled record of the best surgical outcomes, personal care, and service in the United States. Our specialist physicians are also individual owners of the hospital. As owners, every doctor delivers this quality because they are in control of every aspect of the hospital: the services we offer, the recruitment of the best staff, the purchase of all equipment, and every key operational management decision, including the selection of the hospital president. Our physicians serve on every key management committee all the way to the Board of Managers.

Forest Health Medical Center is a unique hospital providing healthcare the way it should be provided, personal healthcare. Contact us to experience the type of healthcare experience you deserve.
