Glaucoma Surgery

Glaucoma is a group of diseases that affect the optic nerve. Glaucoma results in vision loss and is characterized by raised intraocular pressure or IOP. Several types of surgery are used to treat glaucoma and lower intraocular pressure. One of these is trabeculectomy. Trabeculectomy surgery uses a laser to open the drainage canals or make an opening in the iris. This increases the outflow of aqueous humor.
