Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF)

A cervical disc herniation can be removed with an anterior approach (through the front of the neck) to relieve spinal cord or nerve pressure and related pain, weakness, numbness and tingling. After the disc material is removed, a bone graft is inserted to fuse together the bones above and below the disc space.
