Cervical artificial discs

An artificial cervical disc is a device inserted between two cervical vertebrae after a damaged disc has been surgically removed. A cervical artificial disc preserves motion and is an alternative to a fusion of the vertebra above and below the disc space.

The advantages of a cervical artificial disc is maintenance of normal neck motion, reduced degeneration of adjacent segments of the cervical spine, no need for a bone graft, early postoperative neck motion, and quicker return to normal activity.
