Posterior cervical foraminotomy

Nerves can become pinched as they exit the spinal column through boney passages called foramen. This can happen when bone spurs form (arthritic osteophytes) and/or discs become herniated. This minimally invasive procedure creates more space for the spinal nerve to pass through by removing the bone spurs or disc material that is causing the compression. The new procedure uses a small poke-hole incision and has less pain and a much faster recovery period than an open procedure.
